Let the Training Begin!

The course set for the basics.

We have jumped straight into training for the newbies joining Bruff's Bark, we had our first session this Friday and we have to say it went very well. We had Jamie, Lauren and Katie all eager to see the basics of Bruff's Bark Training, with Hilary showing how and what to do.

Rhu, Skye and Zero were the dogs we used for this session - although Zero was a bit apathetic to training compared to the girls. We started from the basics of Sitting, Staying, Waiting and Coming then a bit of fun of weaving In and Out between training poles.

More training sessions and fun will be on the on it's way with more and other dogs!

Hilary getting everyone's attention.

P.S.

Here's some photos from Betty's training session with her brother and sister, everyone is so happy and having fun!

Zero Found!

Yay! Good news all Bruffs Bark followers, Zero the Whippet was found yesterday. He was taken by someone on Wednesday night last week but after a very quick web and street poster campaign someone spotted him and through some good luck he was returned home.

Be care when securing your dog outside shops or in public places. Unfortunately there are a lot of unscrupulous people out there and dog knapping is alarmingly common. Always make sure your dog is chipped, be confident that you can leave them outside and if you can check on them occassionally when you leave them outside.

Sad news but Zero has went missing; he was last seen on Wednesday night - 7th November - with his owner in the Roseburn area of Edinburgh.

He is 3/4 year old Whippet, medium height with a blue and white coat.

If you have seen him please get in contact as soon as possible, we all want a safe return to his owners.

Where Are Ye?

Where Are Ye? I see 1 dog, I see 2 dogs, oh wait, no, there's 3 dogs! But actually there's 4... but in what order do they come?

It's great to see many different breeds out and having fun, and generally just being dogs. They all have their own little misfits but together they're fabby. A pug, a whippet, then queen labrador and cross boxer/staffy - all friends, playing happily together and investigating on their ownsome.

What Happens Next?

Who's the more committed Olympian?

a) Rhu?

b) Skye?

c) Zero?

d) Winston?

Who gives it their most when they're out racing?

When Zero comes to stay he always puts the dogs through their paces.

More House Guests!

It has been a busy busy couple of weeks. From doggies having sleepovers at my home to rushing dogs to vets.

I had the zippy Zero staying last week, darting about with the girls and the Bruffs Barks Band. We had Buster, Winston, Zero, Rhu and Skye out whipping through the long grass and in some cases eating the grass! Zero still races around with incredible speed. Such speed I never got a video of him this trip!

Oscar was here too for a fun five days with me and my girls. Skye is his best pal and they both had a great time. Rhu, ever the big sister, mucked in occassionally but was like the sibling visiting back from uni, putting up with the youngsters running amok underfoot. As I've said before Oscar's progress has been amazing. Dog training is so much easier on young dogs, especially when he has friends he can watch.

While I had Oscar staying over I had to rush Rhu to the vet one morning! She ripped her J Claw off whilst running - she was running on the bike path and caught her claw and suffered a painful injury. When she was in the vet she was a brave girl as she had to get the rest of the claw snipped off. Her recovery has been quick and the other dogs were very sympathetic towards her. It's not a common injury but it can happen on rough surfaces, that's why playing on grass is best but in a city these things happen. Just know it's not serious if dealt with quickly and simply.
