Hotel Bruff

Yes, it looks like doors are opening and closing often at Hotel Bruff with the start of summer, so let's see who has been recently!

We start off with a 2 week visit from Cara! As she's grown up with the Girls, she's right at home at Hotel Bruff.
Nap Time!

Watching passersby from the window!

Next up we have a big boy who hasn't been for a while but it more than welcome, it's Oscar! He's been staying for the past few days and catching up with everyone.

He has been greatly missed by the Girls but he knows how to have fun, so here is some clips of him in action, including some fun in the sun with Rudi!

But after all the fun and playing it's time for a well deserved nap and Oscar likes his naps, even if they are short!

He's a good doorstop as well!

Never made it to bed.

Ssshhh, don't wake him up!

We've emptied up for now, but there are more guests round the corner!
In other news, Bruff's Bark has been enjoying the recent increase in Sun - even getting a bit of a tan/burnt - but it's important to remember that not all dogs like the heat!

Rudi likes the heat but can't last long in it!

Kari is loving the weather!
Finally, Elmo is just happy to go back to his bed after his walk whatever the weather!

Bark Life!

The sun is finally starting to show it's face more and it's getting a little bit warmer so we are finally able to have more fun with the dogs! Though don't let those two above say otherwise!

So let's start off with someones new haircut and it's quite a chop!

It's Elmo!
And someone else is getting into modelling career!

Oscar really liked the hat, honest!

Next up it's our little Pugstar and he's at it again getting into a magazine this time! In this month's Your Dog, it's Rudi!

Next we had a little visitor for the day at Hotel Bruff and as you'll see you can tell she enjoyed it!

Juno getting able to sit on the manager's knees!
Bonding with Skye!

Finally for some action with little, large and in between. Here's Juno, Baloo and Rocky out for a play together! She shows no fear in the face of these two boys!

A Surprise Visit!

Hotel Bruff had another guest this week from a well missed 'little' bulldog, Oscar! The wee man is all grown up now and is still the same funny and playful dog as he was when he first joined Bruff's Bark. So let's get into the action!

We'll start off with him meeting Maggie for the first time and what a blast they had, though Oscar still hasn't ran out of steam yet!

He goes on to pester Skye for a bit to get someone to play with him.

The result:

Then finally he decides to help out around the house, one chore he loves is opening the mail and giving a good read before deciding it's for the bin.

And after a few days of excitement when Oscar finally gets home he then decides it's sleepy time.

In other news, we mentioned it a year ago about having a celebrity dog in our ranks and he has now moved on from the newspapers to the TV!
Yes we are talking about Rudi, he was again at the Animal Blessing service at Greyfriars Kirk this year and got some screen time!

Rudi checking that they got his best side!

Happy National Dog Day!

Apologises for the short delay!

Yes, the 26th of August is officially National Dog Day!

But what is it?

National Dog Day (Also known as: International Dog Day & National Dog Appreciation Day) is celebrated August 26th annually and serves to help galvanize the public to recognize the number of dogs that need to be rescued each year, and acknowledges family dogs and dogs that work selflessly each day to save lives, keep us safe and bring comfort. Dogs put their lives on the line every day - for their law enforcement partner, for their blind companion, for a child who is disabled, for our freedom and safety by detecting bombs and drugs and pulling victims of tragedy from wreckage.

 - National Dog Day Website

And how do you celebrate it?

Well there is many way to celebrate it! From simple things like having a  good walk with your dog(s), getting them gifts and treats, helping others with their dog(s) or giving a new life to a dog in a shelter and adopting them!
Check out the website for more ideas!

But there is one idea we love at Bruff's Bark and that's getting some fabulous photos, so without further ado here's Oscar and Oscar!

The new Baywatch star!

A Little Catch Up!

Apologises for the lack of posts recent of our Band Members in action, it's been pretty busy with new members joining and the end of the holidays meaning we are back to full steam!

We'll start with the recent exclusive Pug Club meet up in which both Rudi and Frank were apart of! So here is a little men both looking pretty good if we do say ourselves!

Next up we have an update on Elmo, he's recently had a bit of surgery but he's still happy and going strong even though he's become quite a lazy boy and will happily sleep than go for a walk.

Yawn!
Next up another little collage of some our members enjoying themselves!

Left to Right: Oscar, Chloe, Yogi and Kelly
Finally we've got a new face for you all to meet, he's a small older boy who's new to the area but is full of joy and energy, so without further ado here's Sammy

Happy!

And here he is in action with Hilary!

It's the Summer Holidays!

Which means business at Bruff's Bark is a bit quieter with a good lot of our dogs away for some time, but it doesn't mean we have been slacking!
Though the heat has proved sometimes a bit too much for the dogs recently! So here is some photos from the week of our dogs in the sun!

Merlin and Daphne having a little break
Next up it's Jack out in the park, chilling after a good play with the ball.

Then here's the silly face of Oscar, who had a really good walk in the sun but unfortunately couldn't move when he got home - had to bring the water bowl to him!

And here's big Red, enjoying a good lie down at the beach before heading home.

Though Red caught the attention of two lovely ladies, who started to follow him as he passed by but were happy to get their photo taken.

And finally but not at all least, here's the Girls - Rhu and Skye - enjoying some peace at Hotel Bruff before the next visitor turned up, Buster!

Time for a Close Up!

The weather has some times proved too much for our Bruff's Bark Members but it also provides the perfect time for some photo opportunities!

Starting from the top left, we've got the poser Bertie, then we've got two newer members: Guanche and (Mr) Bradley showing some good smiles!

Then we've got Rudi having a good nap after a good time playing in the sun, next up is Maggie showing her fierce face - real model material there!
Following is Kari and Merlin & Daphne all chilling in the good weather.
Finally the last two, the heat has proved too much for Oscar then it's Rhu as per usual enjoying not doing much!

Then it's time for our big boy with loads of joy, it's Red! He may be big, full of beans but this boy is just a super-sized pup, wanting to play, meet new friends and a gentle giant at heart!

Finally after 2 weeks with the Girls, Bertie is finally back home to enjoy some peace and quiet. He's never stopped, from meeting other members and going to new places, he'll need a holiday to recover!

It's a Pug's Life!

We have another Pug - or as we have recently learned they are known as the Dutch Mastiff! - and he's a little young pup of 4 months!

Meet Frank!

This little man isn't afraid of anything or anyone and has happily made himself apart of the bigger dogs of the Bruff's Bark Band! We now have 5 Pugs - Winston, Rudi, Bertie, Basie and Frank - each with a different personality but full of energy and joy!

Pugs have been well known throughout history, the breed originating for China but becoming a well sought after dog by royalty in Europe in the 16th Century onwards.

Enough Pug business - for now - we have had some more sleepovers recently, starting with Cara, who is with Rhu and Skye at the moment. So she has been meeting some new doggy friends whilst on her little holiday from home.

So here is her new pals: Hugo, Maggie, Midget and Sophie.

And after some playing -  like rest of the dogs who stay over - Cara is ready for a good nap!

Zzzzzzz....
But with all of the dogs in Bruff's Bark, we do love them and sometimes they show us affection back.

Kisses!

And finally here's another stay over, this time it's Oscar, who join Thumper for the night!

Hello!

This is my bed right?

And sometimes even the dogs have one of those mornings where they don't want to wake up!

Fun and Training!

There has been some favourable weather for some fun, though at Bruff's Bark we have a select few that will play in any weather!

But we'll start with some fun and training with Hilary and Ruby, she may be young but she's a smart cookie!

Next up, we have a fun loving pair, Sam and Oscar. Sam is a bit older but still loves a good run and play with the ball; Oscar is coming up for his first birthday and although he can be a timid, he just wants to be friends with everyone!

Finally, we have a little clip of a little dog, yet that size does not stop him when he's on the training course, here's Jaxson!

All Back to Normal

The weather is back to it's unpredictable nature and all the dogs are back in routine. One thing all the dogs know is: who's got food!

Food is always greeted with great anticipation!
Using treats - mainly food - is one of the easiest way to train a dog. It's the easiest way to give the right reward for good behaviour, but it's not to be over used or you'll be finding yourself with a dog that only works for food! Starting off with treats and working into patting your dog as a reward is the best way to get a happy dog that knows where they stand.

Oscar is happy to know where his treats are.

We'd like to apologise for the lack of training in the recent weeks; health and safety is our main concern for the cancelling training as the training grounds have become quite hazardous for both clients and dogs. We are hoping the weather improves and the grounds dry up!
