Training from the Trainee!

We currently have Lauren working at Bruff's Bark over the summer and although she's only been with us a little while she has been proving herself as a trainer and best pal among the Bruff's Bark members!

And here is another video with Lauren training with Betty, as you will see there is a strong bond between them.

And finally you may have noticed that some of our members have been wearing pink/purple bandanas, we have been giving these out for the dogs so they can been seen and recognised as Bruff's Bark members plus they look pretty awesome as Jack will show you.

Let the Training Begin!

The course set for the basics.

We have jumped straight into training for the newbies joining Bruff's Bark, we had our first session this Friday and we have to say it went very well. We had Jamie, Lauren and Katie all eager to see the basics of Bruff's Bark Training, with Hilary showing how and what to do.

Rhu, Skye and Zero were the dogs we used for this session - although Zero was a bit apathetic to training compared to the girls. We started from the basics of Sitting, Staying, Waiting and Coming then a bit of fun of weaving In and Out between training poles.

More training sessions and fun will be on the on it's way with more and other dogs!

Hilary getting everyone's attention.

P.S.

Here's some photos from Betty's training session with her brother and sister, everyone is so happy and having fun!

Some fun in the sun!

Here's some photos and videos of the Bruff's Bark Band in action from last week, when the weather was not too bad - especially compared to the predicted forecast for this week!

Here's Addison and Boomer out on their walk!

Addison, Lauren, Betty and Marley in the Sun!

Here is Marley showing us he can do a few tricks!

Scout Hut Success with Dogs!

When treats are about, so are ALL the dogs!
The weather has been pretty fine - though chilly on some days - so we've had the chance to take a select few of the Bruff's Bark Band members down to the Scout Hut for some fun in the sun - and don't they love it!

In the video you can see Rhu, Skye, Buster, Winston and Betty all having some fun! Also a new member of staff: Lauren!

Some water to help cool down after the fun!

Finally we'd like to share an embarrassing moment of Rhu - the poor girl - she had the unfortunate timing to be walking under a tree when some avian meanie decided to poo, luckily Rhu didn't seem to notice or care!

Puppy Play

Betty with her "Hoops".

Betty - ~7 month Rottweiler - has been joy to work with. Her boring walks have now been replaced with her new favourite toy: "Hoops".

By using this toy as a treat/reward she has learned how to:
  • 'Wait'
  • 'Down'
  • 'Bring It'
  • 'Leave'/'Thank You'
I have had the pleasure of working with Betty's sister and brother over the weekend, showing them that they can control and play with Betty without being pushed over. I have let them play and taught them 'careful' - which Betty already knows, this command slows her down and stops her being too boisterous.

Cara with her ball.

Cara - ~7 month Lurcher - is all legs and tail. I have seen a great difference with when you work with her favourite toy a ball! She loves to run, but when you want her attention I use a short, sharp whistle and she comes running.
Keeping her attention is imperative as she loves to be with other dogs - even if they are at the other end of the beach or park!
I enjoy running with her, ' With Me' brings her in close and makes her concentrate on me.

Different pups have different attitudes, but as long as you give them praise and attention when they are good and steady discipline when they are naughty you will have a puppy who will be your best friend for life.

Training and then Fun!

At Bruff's Bark, we make sure that training of any sort is the most important part of the walk and play, as you'll see the in the next two videos, Betty get her training then her play with Marley!

Finally here is Kari, ready to play her favourite game of letting the ball run down the hill!

Goodbyes and Hellos

We are sad to announce that Bailey has left the Bruff's Bark Band to be re-homed to his brother, this was a hard decision but for the benefit of himself and his mum. He'll be missed by all especially his two "sisters" Scarlett and Betty.

But we also have good news with the introduction of both Marley and Duke in the Bruff's Bark Band. Marley is a young French Bulldog - who loves nothing but to play with his new pals - and Duke an old collie cross - who loves nothing but to play fetch and some peace and quiet.

March Madness

For a few days this week we've been seriously wondering which season we are currently in now, but nevertheless we continued on through the blizzard conditions to the warm sun come the end of the week but not without loads of videos of our furry friends!

We start with Bailey, Jack, Scarlett and Betty in the best of the blizzard!

Here we have Chloe enjoying the weather to the max, almost camouflaged in the snow!

Thirdly we have Rhu, Skye, Buster and Winston enjoying the cold but calm weather.

Finally we have Kari - a new start to the Bruff's Bark Band - enjoying a good play in the aftermath of the awful weather!

Also we have received our Dog Walking permits from the Council!

Betty stays over!

Betty, our puppy rottweiler is growing up fast and full of energy, she is best of friends with Bailey and Scarlett as you can see from the video below:-

But recently she has spent the weekend staying over with Rhu and Skye - and having a blast! Skye - per usual - has acted like a mother towards her, whilst Rhu an aunt. From the video and photos you will see the fun and chaos they had together.

Finally not to forget during the weeks of fun,we have our wizard Merlin! He now over a years old and feisty as ever; though after a good game of tug of war he loves nothing other than a little lie down to rest.

Also you may have noticed we've added another tab labelled "Staff Holidays", this is just to share dates of when staff are on holiday, but don't worry as we'll still be available for walks and plays during these as we have extra hands to help out!

Busy Busy Busy

It's been one of those weeks, fun without much sun.

Firstly we've had this lovely boy staying over with the girls for the week:

Bodie the cheeky lad!

He just loves to play fetch and meet other dogs, but also sneak into bed with Skye! Don't they look so happy together!

Skye and Winston have had some adventures down at Granton Harbour, where they just love to run and have some fun in the cold waters!

Betty has started to show her true nature and putting up a good fight with Scarlett, with Bailey there to keep the peace and keep the Jack-a-Bee in line - though he's showing his age compared to the puppies.

Rhu after an exhausting but fun week.

Bruff's Bark's Babies!

We are happy to introduce the new member of the Bruff's Bark Band: Betty! As you can see she has been introduced to Scarlett but also Bailey and Cara! She is only just over 2 months but she is a smart little Rottweiler, happy to play with her new pals.

All these dogs - except Bailey - are all under a year old, but meeting lots of new dogs at this age will benefit them greatly, as they'll be a more calm and happy
when they grow up but they also learn from how to act from other canines.

Also not to forgot another puppy in the Band, although a good bit bigger, Chloe! Here is her walking with Hilary, off to go have fun!
