Hotel Bruff

Yes, it looks like doors are opening and closing often at Hotel Bruff with the start of summer, so let's see who has been recently!

We start off with a 2 week visit from Cara! As she's grown up with the Girls, she's right at home at Hotel Bruff.
Nap Time!

Watching passersby from the window!

Next up we have a big boy who hasn't been for a while but it more than welcome, it's Oscar! He's been staying for the past few days and catching up with everyone.

He has been greatly missed by the Girls but he knows how to have fun, so here is some clips of him in action, including some fun in the sun with Rudi!

But after all the fun and playing it's time for a well deserved nap and Oscar likes his naps, even if they are short!

He's a good doorstop as well!

Never made it to bed.

Ssshhh, don't wake him up!

We've emptied up for now, but there are more guests round the corner!
In other news, Bruff's Bark has been enjoying the recent increase in Sun - even getting a bit of a tan/burnt - but it's important to remember that not all dogs like the heat!

Rudi likes the heat but can't last long in it!

Kari is loving the weather!
Finally, Elmo is just happy to go back to his bed after his walk whatever the weather!

A Surprise Visit!

Hotel Bruff had another guest this week from a well missed 'little' bulldog, Oscar! The wee man is all grown up now and is still the same funny and playful dog as he was when he first joined Bruff's Bark. So let's get into the action!

We'll start off with him meeting Maggie for the first time and what a blast they had, though Oscar still hasn't ran out of steam yet!

He goes on to pester Skye for a bit to get someone to play with him.

The result:

Then finally he decides to help out around the house, one chore he loves is opening the mail and giving a good read before deciding it's for the bin.

And after a few days of excitement when Oscar finally gets home he then decides it's sleepy time.

In other news, we mentioned it a year ago about having a celebrity dog in our ranks and he has now moved on from the newspapers to the TV!
Yes we are talking about Rudi, he was again at the Animal Blessing service at Greyfriars Kirk this year and got some screen time!

Rudi checking that they got his best side!

Happy National Dog Day!

Apologises for the short delay!

Yes, the 26th of August is officially National Dog Day!

But what is it?

National Dog Day (Also known as: International Dog Day & National Dog Appreciation Day) is celebrated August 26th annually and serves to help galvanize the public to recognize the number of dogs that need to be rescued each year, and acknowledges family dogs and dogs that work selflessly each day to save lives, keep us safe and bring comfort. Dogs put their lives on the line every day - for their law enforcement partner, for their blind companion, for a child who is disabled, for our freedom and safety by detecting bombs and drugs and pulling victims of tragedy from wreckage.

 - National Dog Day Website

And how do you celebrate it?

Well there is many way to celebrate it! From simple things like having a  good walk with your dog(s), getting them gifts and treats, helping others with their dog(s) or giving a new life to a dog in a shelter and adopting them!
Check out the website for more ideas!

But there is one idea we love at Bruff's Bark and that's getting some fabulous photos, so without further ado here's Oscar and Oscar!

It's a tiring thing being with the Girls.

Fun in the little Sun!

Looks like the weather is just going to get worse now, but at Bruff's Bark we are prepared for all weathers and we make sure our dogs are as well - though we know a few members of the band are a bit reluctant to come out in the less favourable conditions!

But thankfully there was some nice sun this week and we've got a video to share of some pups at play!

Sadly, Oscar didn't win but in the end Skye gave him the toy and you have never seen a bigger smile on any dog!

Finally, here's a photo of what happens when we bring the our band members home after a good walk and play!

Exciting Times!

Yes it's been another busy few weeks at Bruff's Bark and things are really hotting up - unlike the recent weather - with new faces, training and good old fashion fun!

So let's start with one of the new members to the Bruff's Bark Band: Charlie!

Chillin' after some fun in the sun.
He's a 2 year old Belgian Shepherd cross, who gets really fluffy when his coat grows in! He's only recently joined but he's already spent a night with the Girls - Rhu and Skye - lucky him!

Making himself at home with the bones.
Relaxing with Skye.

Here is the new boy in action with long time member of the Band and his new friend: Jack!

Next up some footage from Training, starring: Alfie, Yogi, Ruby and Kai! This week was all about concentration and getting the course done correctly and not as fast as possible.

And finally to round off with some fun, starting with this little lady.

Kari - look at that smile!

And then the boys who probably will never grow up: Oscar and Rudi!

When the Girls are away...

The Boys will play!

Starring: Buster, Winston, Oscar and Rudi! These four brave boys have had to make due without Rhu and Skye for this week but as you'll see they are quite capable of making their own fun!

Next up, we have double trouble: Oscar and Oscar! Yes, two Oscars in the same park! Now we all know about the Bulldog Oscar but the other Oscar well he's something else!
Although he's quite big, he's only about 8 months old, a Labrador cross Portuguese Water Dog that's just full of energy and loves to play with others!
He's a new member of the Bruff's Bark Band!

Oscar's Little Sleepover!

Grumpy.
Now following on from Winston's visitOscar had been given the special treatment of not just visiting my [Tom] house and seeing Thumper but staying over night!

Now the wee man was in for a bit of a surprise when he came round, as I kept him busy and entertained and the results are great except...

He was too tired to stay awake for a nice photo! He did make himself at home though as you'll see - also tired to sleep in my bed!

Showing off his good side.

Now, no visit would be complete without meeting Thumper!

When Little meet Large!

Oh what exciting times it is! With an influx of puppies, we are stumped to train them all but who should they best learn from than all the older dogs! So here we have introduced Oscar and Rudi to each other with the help of Rhu, Skye, Buster and Cara, the results are too enjoyable!

And after all the fun there is the walk home! The first day is fine but on the second day Oscar has seemed to had too much and insists on being carried!

But what fun walk wouldn't be without treats and when one dog gets a treat, the rest want one as well, least we have enough for everyone!

There is no escaping when they come!

The Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home Fun Dog Walk

Skye, Rhu and Bertie in the background!

We'd love to thank everyone who came along to the EDCH Walk - we are sorry about the short notice - and to see what hard work they do. We hope that some of the lovely doggies that are the home now are in the process of getting a happy new home!

Here's a short video of the some of the Bruff's Bark Band - in the pink bandanas - at the Walk!

Training Time and Introductions!

Training is a great part of a dog's life, but it doesn't mean it has to be boring! Here to show off first is Otto - a puppy Bloodhound with a strong nose, especially for treats!

Next up we have Kari, this wee Border Terrier is full of beans and willing to please! She is quick to learn and shows off as she speeds through the training course with her brother and mum! It's easy to see the bond between her and her brother and amazing to watch them together in action!

Next we shall introduce, Oscar the puppy bulldog! He can be quite stubborn to get moving but once he starts he never wants to stop! But you can't stop to aww when you see him!

And finally we have: Bertie the young Beagle! He's just like all Beagles and has his nose in everything but he'll soon learn of more fun things to do!

The Summer is ending...

And the kids are back to school but we'd like to give a big thank and shout out to Paul and Lauren for their help over the summer, they were a giant help and all the dogs will miss them. We would definitely have them back in a flash but we wish them all the best in the next term of school!
So now it's back to the hard work and we have some good news: we have a significant number of new dogs joining the Bruff's Bark Band and all new equipment for training!
So keep your eyes peeled for them in the coming weeks!

But as a little preview, here's one of them: Oscar the puppy Bulldog with big Buster!

And finally here a short video of cute coupling playing: Merlin and Cara!

Merlin looking good in his Bruff's Bark Bandana!
