Bruff's Bark Blog: 2013

Wednesday 25 December 2013

Before we say it...

We'd like to thank everyone for their continued support this year, without it there would be no Bruff's Bark. We will continue to improve and bring a better and bigger service.

We've had a great year with loads of new faces joining the Bruff's Bark Band and new adventures with all our dogs. But now we'll have a few days peace and be back in action on the 27th for a few days, there will be special training session on the 28th - we'll be taking New Year's Day off - then it's full steam ahead into the new year!

We hope none of the Band members get up to any naughty business over the seasonal period and that they'll be ready for us come the new year!

So we hope you all had a great and Merry Christmas!

From,

Hilary, Tom, Addison, Jamie, Rachel, Paul and Rhu + Skye!

Merry Christmas from Thumper as well!

The Last Minute Round-Up!

Yes, it's that time of year again!

But before we say anything, here's some clips of the some of the Bruff's Bark Band members in action over the past week!

Here we have in order: Cara and CharlieDuke and finally Marley and his new sister Looney!

Finally, as some of the Bruff's Bark Band have been missing him - especially Skye - here's Oscar!

Look at that pose!

Puppies and Growing Up

We'll start off with Floyd and Ruby, these two have been growing up together and learning since they were old enough to get out the house and don't they know how to have fun!

Next up we'll have to two puppies, who have the energy to run a marathon: Scarlett and Alfie!

Scarlett has been in the Bruff's Bark Band nearly a year now - since she was a pup! - and Alfie has just recently joined the Band but is becoming friends with all the other members!

Finally, we have The Boys - Jack, Charlie and Marley - these three although no longer pups but still have show they know how to have fun.

Marley being the youngest has grown up with the rest of the Bruff's Bark Band and Charlie has only recently joined as well but has already found his place and friends. Finally there is Jack, the oldest of The Boys - only 3 years old! -  and one of the longest serving members of the Band but can outrun anyone!.

An unlikely Friendship

We have known for years that dogs whilst gentle most times, they will follow their prey drive and chase other animals.

But as you know a few of the Bruff's Bark Band have been introduced to a - sometimes unsocial - rabbit known as Thumper. Great care has always been taken during these times but there was a breakthrough with our Winston.

Last time they met, Winston wasn't too unsure of what to do with Thumper and just stayed away. But when they met again, Winston again stayed upstairs rather than feel glare of a rabbit.

Until later in the night when Thumper made a surprise visit upstairs to Winston and from there on a friendship was born!

What's that?

It's getting closer!

Oh, why hello there old chap!

Sunday 8 December 2013

And they're gone!

Yes, we can't believe it ourselves!

All the calendars have been sold!
We hope that everyone who receives one is delighted as much as we are with them!
And apologies to all who missed out on them!

A thank you to all of the Bruff's Bark members for their patience and a special thank you to Lesley - Kari's owner - for some amazing photos!

On another note, we'd like to point out that during this seasonal period, Bruff's Bark will be out of action on the following days:

24th - 26th December 2013

Due to the change in season and health & safety reasons, we are postponing Friday's 4pm till 5pm training slot until further notice.

But we are happy to say that we are opening up another training slot on Saturday: 12pm till 1pm.

Also could we ask all clients interested in training to get in touch by Thursday beforehand to confirm they are coming on Saturday.

Friday 22 November 2013

We've been keeping in a secret...

But it's nearly complete.

The Bruff's Bark Calendar 2014!

Yes, we've been busy getting snaps of all the Bruff's Bark Band members as well as the usual Bruff's Bark activities!
Once we've got it ready and printed it will be available to all - we are hoping it will be ready for mid-December, so a great present for a dog lover!

We've like to thank all the members for their patience during this week of photo shoots but we've like to give a big thank you to Lesley Jones - Kari's mum - she has taken some amazing photos of Bruff's Bark Band!

Busy Busy Time!

We'll start with the introduction of two new members of the Bruff's Bark Band!

Floyd and Ruby!
Floyd is an Alsatian, Ruby a Collie, together they are the best of pals! Both still young pups but have boundless energy!

Floyd eyeing up his prey.

Ruby, just chilling.

Floyd, also chilling!

Next up is last weeks sleepovers - and there was a few!

First to stay over and his first night away from home! Here's Rudi with Rhu and Skye!

It's a tiring thing being with the Girls.

Second to stay but his first time with Thumper, here's Buster!

Ready for the night life!

Making himself at home.

The Guard Dog.

Sleeping with Mr Ted.
Here's some clips of Buster in action, playing with Mr Ted, meeting Thumper and playing down at Cramond!

Finally, but not his first time, here's Oscar staying with the Girls!

Hello Skye!

Awww!

Sleepy boy.

Feeling left out.
Although he's been before, doesn't mean he can't be mischievous!

Fun in the little Sun!

Looks like the weather is just going to get worse now, but at Bruff's Bark we are prepared for all weathers and we make sure our dogs are as well - though we know a few members of the band are a bit reluctant to come out in the less favourable conditions!

But thankfully there was some nice sun this week and we've got a video to share of some pups at play!

Sadly, Oscar didn't win but in the end Skye gave him the toy and you have never seen a bigger smile on any dog!

Finally, here's a photo of what happens when we bring the our band members home after a good walk and play!

Monday 21 October 2013

Rudi the Blessed.

Rudi has recently been to a pet blessing service at Greyfriars Kirk and not only that, he also made it into the Evening News, Go Rudi! We all knew he was going places!

Exciting Times!

Yes it's been another busy few weeks at Bruff's Bark and things are really hotting up - unlike the recent weather - with new faces, training and good old fashion fun!

So let's start with one of the new members to the Bruff's Bark Band: Charlie!

Chillin' after some fun in the sun.
He's a 2 year old Belgian Shepherd cross, who gets really fluffy when his coat grows in! He's only recently joined but he's already spent a night with the Girls - Rhu and Skye - lucky him!

Making himself at home with the bones.
Relaxing with Skye.

Here is the new boy in action with long time member of the Band and his new friend: Jack!

Next up some footage from Training, starring: Alfie, Yogi, Ruby and Kai! This week was all about concentration and getting the course done correctly and not as fast as possible.

And finally to round off with some fun, starting with this little lady.

Kari - look at that smile!

And then the boys who probably will never grow up: Oscar and Rudi!

Harvey's Weekend Getaway!

Making himself at home - on my bed!
Just catching up with on goings of everyone else, we nearly forgot to show of what happened when Harvey came over for the weekend to mine - Tom.

Well it was a busy weekend with training on the Friday and Saturday but the wee man got some special time with me and you'll see that the results speak for themselves!

My bed Harvey's Bed
His afternoon read was all a bit too much as well!
Couldn't even make it to his own bed!

All I did was take him for a few walks, play with him and feed him - honest! He was very taken with Thumper, though Thumper didn't share them and would blank him - Thumper is quite antisocial!

Wednesday 9 October 2013

The Girls' Holiday!

So now Hilary, Rhu and Skye are back from a well deserved rest and are straight back to working hard, but what exactly did they get up to in Dunbar?

Well we have a few sneaky photos of the girls doing what they do best!

Just arrived with mini Rhum!

It's chilly at night!

Posing.

Out for walk with mini Rhum.

More walk photos.

Guard Dogs.

It's all a bit too much even on holiday for Rhu!
Now let's see all the freedom and fresh air they got to experience!

Now all holidays these days wouldn't be complete without a video or two, so we've got a nice collaboration of clips!

Saturday 5 October 2013

When the Girls are away...

The Boys will play!

Starring: Buster, Winston, Oscar and Rudi! These four brave boys have had to make due without Rhu and Skye for this week but as you'll see they are quite capable of making their own fun!

Next up, we have double trouble: Oscar and Oscar! Yes, two Oscars in the same park! Now we all know about the Bulldog Oscar but the other Oscar well he's something else!
Although he's quite big, he's only about 8 months old, a Labrador cross Portuguese Water Dog that's just full of energy and loves to play with others!
He's a new member of the Bruff's Bark Band!

Wednesday 2 October 2013

Oscar's Little Sleepover!

Grumpy.
Now following on from Winston's visitOscar had been given the special treatment of not just visiting my [Tom] house and seeing Thumper but staying over night!

Now the wee man was in for a bit of a surprise when he came round, as I kept him busy and entertained and the results are great except...

He was too tired to stay awake for a nice photo! He did make himself at home though as you'll see - also tired to sleep in my bed!

Showing off his good side.

Now, no visit would be complete without meeting Thumper!

Wee Ollie and The Big Ones!

Ollie has his first stay over with Rhu and Skye, and how he had a fun time and proved himself to tough wee trooper! He showed no fear and jumped right in to play with the Girls and tired them out!

After all the playing he made himself right at home and joined in the Girls on usual activities in the house, like waiting patiently for Hilary or sleeping!

Nothing happening here - honestly!
Skye gets loves looking after pups but gets very tired - aww!

Finally, we have two big boys who have already been introduced: Baloo and Otto. Here's a video of them letting off some steam after this weeks training!

Sunday 15 September 2013

The Puppies play, The Puppies learn!

It has been quite a busy time at Bruff's Bark with lots of new puppies starting and coming for training, so we'd like to show you some of the things they have been up and you'll see some familiar faces as well!
We've got Buster, Cara, Winston, Rudi, Otto, Ollie and Baloo all having a bit of fun!

Next up is the training time! We've got Monty working on perfecting his training and Scout - who stayed with Hilary, Rhu and Skye a few weeks back - coming to show us what he's remembered!

Finally it's been a long two weeks but Cara is finally back home from staying with Rhu and Skye. Although she loved it, we think she'll need a holiday herself for all the non-stop fun she's had!

Playing with Skye.
Shy for the camera!

Winston's Surprise Visit!

Well it isn't often that I - Tom - have dogs round at mine, usually always walking them but mainly due to this beast known as Thumper.

He's bigger than he looks!

But every so often I have a dog over for a few hours or nights, and this it was Winston it got the privilege to come over for a few hours and meet my bunny - unbeknown to him! Though unlike other dogs that have loved or ignored Thumper, Winston was actually scared of him! It might have been that they are similar sized or he had no idea what to but as you'll see, Winston couldn't even look Thumper in the eyes!

But this isn't to say Winston didn't have a fun time, s you'll see from the next few photos he had a bit too much fun!
Joining me on the laptop!

Doing some posing!

Soaked from playing down at Cramond!

Taking over the bed now!

After all the excitement, Winston decided it was too much for him.
